Florida Marketing Job Industry
Florida’s marketing sector has recovered from the recession of 2008 and has since expanded beyond pre-2008 highs. The number of marketing research analysts and specialists has risen 31% between May 2011 and May 2012. Advertising sales positions, which didn’t experience a tremendous hit during the recession, increased 2.25% during the same 12-month period, according to the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation.
As one of the most business friendly and economically active states in the country, Florida’s many businesses help create an enormous ad sales and marketing industry within the state. In 2010, Florida’s gross state product was $754 billion, making it the 4th most economically productive state in the nation. According to Chase Financial analysts, Florida’s GDP is expected to grow 2.3% in 2012, 3.5% in 2013 and 3.8% in 2014. The highest paid were employed in the Gainesville area where their average was 26% higher than the statewide average at $123,500.
Market Research Analyst Salary
In 2011, a total of 10,760 market research analysts and marketing specialists were employed in Florida, most of which worked in the Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Pompano Beach areas. Among them, they had an average salary of $57,520, while those in the 90th percentile averaged $93,360. Some of the higher paying areas were Pensacola, Ferry Pass, and Brent where the average was almost 18% higher at $70,010.

In 2011, a total of 5,640 marketing managers were employed in Florida. Among them, they had an average salary of $108,930, while those in the 90th percentile earned $186,710 on average.
